Village Fete & Scarecrow week 2018

The Village Fete was held on 23 June 2018 and was blessed with glorious sunshine.  There were attractions for all ages, from face painting and “splat the rat” to the bottle stall and other competitions.  The visits to the Church Tower also proved popular as did the ice cream van given the temperatures on the day.

All in all the event was extremely popular and really well attended.  Thanks to all those involved in the organisation and to those who attended and supported the event.  The Fete aims to raise funds for a variety of projects and charities and the details of how funds have been allocated this year are below:

St Mary’s Centre £100.00

Village Plan projects £80.00

Badsworth School £100.00

Children’s Diabetes £100.00

Prince of Wales Hospice £200.00

Yorkshire Air Ambulance £200.00

Of course we also had Scarecrow week and many thanks to Dean Parkin for organising things this year.  The theme this year was book characters and many of you rose to the challenge and over all we had a wonderful array of scarecrows.  The winning “production” was a scene from Jaws that took up almost all of a front garden and was fabulous.
